The National Weather Service (NWS) 9:30 am forecast predicts 1″ this afternoon with 5″-9″ tonight and another 5″ to 9″ during the day on Wednesday with increased winds on Wednesday. Even though our streets are in pretty good shape now the additional snow will be hard to clear, given the current snow banks. Our primary goal during this storm is to clear the roads so that emergency vehicles can get to you quickly. The larger vehicles are 10″ wide! We strongly suggest that if you have a vehicle parked on the even numbered side of the street that you find off street parking. This is safer for your vehicle and will greatly help with snow plowing.
Emergency shelter is available at the Marlboro fire house on Pratt Street. You should bring a sleeping bag and some food. The County will send additional food after people are sheltered at the fire house.
Stay safe! There have already been reports of heart attacks brought on by over excursion — pace yourself. Be careful also with alternative heat and light sources carbon monoxide and fire can kill. Charge your Cell Phones and laptops!
Be a good neighbor! Most people are under stress make allowances. Form a mutual aid agreement with your neighbors, check on those that may need help. Don’t throw snow on to the street when clearing your driveway or your vehicle. Report loss of power, the greater number of people without power the greater attention we all will receive.
